Maureen Chiana | Keynotes, Conferences & Retreats
Understand What Holds You Back. Practise What Changes It.
I bring neuroscience, emotional intelligence, Scripture and practical application together to help people understand the patterns affecting their confidence, decisions, relationships and results.
Whether I am speaking to leaders, professionals or a Christian gathering, my focus is the same: help people recognise what is happening, choose a more effective response and practise it in real life.
Awareness without action is not transformation.

Four Signature Keynotes
The Conversations People Need, with Tools They Can Use
These talks address the fears, emotional reactions and repeated behaviours that affect everyday life and leadership. Each keynote is adapted to the audience and designed to lead to a specific, practical response, not just a moment of inspiration.
01 / Scripture & Identity
Living Beneath Your God-Given Identity
Why Fear, Insecurity and Self-Doubt Still Hold You Back
You know what God says about who you are, yet you may still feel inadequate, compare yourself with others, fear rejection or allow a past disappointment to shape your decisions.
We examine the gap between knowing your identity in Christ and responding from that truth when it matters. Scripture grounds the message; neuroscience and emotional intelligence help explain how learned thoughts and responses can be recognised and practised differently.
Takeaway: Identify an unhelpful belief, anchor your response in biblical truth and take one specific action you have been avoiding.
02 / Faith, Courage & Action
Stop Playing Small
When Fear and Overthinking Keep You from What God Is Calling You to Do
You have prayed, prepared and sought advice, but you are still postponing that important decision, conversation or step. Perfectionism, fear of failure and constant analysis can feel like preparation while quietly reinforcing avoidance.
We explore the patterns behind indecision and connect trust in God with intentional action, practical preparation and the repeated choices that build courage and confidence.
Takeaway: Recognise the behaviour keeping you stuck, choose a workable next action and establish how you will follow through and review it.
03 / Emotional Intelligence & Leadership
When Emotions Take Over
The Hidden Cost to Your Decisions, Relationships and Leadership
Pressure can change how you listen, interpret feedback, speak to others and make decisions. Fear, frustration or defensiveness may lead to reactions that weaken trust or create unnecessary conflict, even when you know a better response.
Drawing on neuroscience and emotional intelligence, we explore emotional triggers, self-regulation and practical ways to respond with greater clarity when the stakes are high.
Takeaway: Notice a personal trigger, practise a regulation strategy and replace an automatic reaction with a more constructive response.
04 / Boundaries, Approval & Relationships
Why Do You Keep Saying Yes When You Want to Say No?
Breaking Free from People-Pleasing, Guilt and the Fear of Rejection
You agree to things you do not have capacity for, worry about disappointing people and feel guilty when you set a boundary. Over time, the need for approval can drain your energy, create resentment and distract you from your responsibilities.
We examine the beliefs and emotions behind people-pleasing, and how a secure sense of identity, emotional awareness and clear communication can support healthier boundaries.
Takeaway: Recognise where approval-seeking drives your choices, establish one healthy boundary and practise communicating it respectfully.
Looking for a particular theme? Talks can be adapted for your event, including professional development, church leadership, women's conferences, retreats and group learning.
Designed for Your Audience
Relevant to the Room. Practical Beyond the Event.
A leadership conference, church gathering and women's retreat have different needs. We agree the focus and intended outcomes before the event so participants leave with something they can practise.
This work is personal to me. After a business failure and the loss of my mother shook my confidence, I wanted to understand why painful experiences could keep influencing our thinking and choices. My background in science led me to neuroscience and emotional intelligence, while Scripture remained central to rebuilding my identity and practising different responses.
Organisations & Professional Events
Keynotes for leaders, teams, healthcare and life sciences professionals, universities and business events. Content focuses on emotional regulation, confidence, communication, decisions and behaviour under pressure. The faith scope is discussed with the organiser in advance.
Churches, Christian Conferences & Retreats
Scripture-centred sessions integrating God's Word, neuroscience, emotional intelligence, prayer and dependence on the Holy Spirit with practical daily application. Participants work on the decisions and responses that need to change, not merely what they know.

From the Stage to Daily Practice
The Message Doesn't Have to End When the Event Does
My book, Rewire Your Brain with Neuroscience and Scripture Every Day, is a 366-day practical guide that brings together neuroscience, emotional intelligence, Scripture, reflection and application.
The companion workbook helps readers notice patterns, choose a different response, put it into practice, review what happened and repeat. Both resources can support follow-through after a keynote or form the basis of a facilitated group experience.
If you are planning a conference, retreat or group programme, we can discuss book and workbook options as part of your event.
